improving the quality of life through technology

The Assistive Technology (AT) Lab at Harbor Regional Center assists children and adults in leading more independent lives through the use of assistive technology.

The Assistive Technology Lab features state-of-the-art adaptive equipment. We provide consultations, assistive technology training and support in the use of adaptive technology for augmentative communication, computer use, and electronic aids for daily living.

Activity Schedule Workshops
In this workshop, parents that have participated in our training can use the Boardmaker software to create and print activity schedules

Intro to Activity Schedules
Each participant will develop an activity schedule for a sequence of activities which is relevant to their own child.

Services
Services are provided by a speech pathologist, an occupational therapist, and a technology specialist. An inter-disciplinary team can provide services on and off-site when the client's needs warrant a team approach.

Referral Process
Clients and their families interested in receiving an AT Lab consultation should contact their Harbor Regional Center Counselor.

Purpose
The power that assistive technology has in improving the quality of life for most individuals with disabilities is now widely recognized. It enables our clients with developmental disabilities to participate more easily in family, school, work and community activities.
